Update:

  • The opt-out deadline has been extended to Oct. 6, 2022.

Coastline Equipment agreed to pay $825,000 to resolve claims under the California Private Attorney General Act, or PAGA, that it failed to pay its employees minimum and overtime wages.

The settlement benefits individuals who worked for Coastline Equipment as a non-exempt, hourly employee in California between May 30, 2015, and Nov. 23, 2021. The settlement also includes a PAGA subclass of Californians who worked for the company between May 30, 2018, and Nov. 23, 2021.

Bragg Investment Co., doing business as Coastline Equipment, sells top of the line equipment from brands like John Deere. The company sells to customers in construction, manufacturing and other industries.

Coastline Equipment may fail to properly pay its workers, according to a class action lawsuit. The plaintiff in the case claims the company fails to pay its workers minimum wage and overtime wages.

In addition, Coastline Equipment allegedly fails to provide its workers with rest and meal breaks, fails to pay all owed wages upon termination, fails to reimburse employees for all business expenses and fails to provide accurate wage statements.

The plaintiff brought these allegations under California labor laws, which have some of the strictest requirements in the country. The class action lawsuit also includes allegations under PAGA, which allows workers to bring labor claims against companies on behalf of the state’s labor authority.

Coastline Equipment hasn’t admitted to the wrongdoing but agreed to resolve these claims with a $825,000 class action settlement.

Under the terms of a settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the number of work weeks they worked during the class period. Class members who worked a higher number of workweeks during the class period are eligible for a larger share of the settlement fund.

The settlement includes relief under PAGA. Coastline Equipment agreed to pay the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency $22,500 for penalties. Class members could also benefit from a $7,500 PAGA payment if they are part of the PAGA subclass.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 6, 2022.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Oct. 13, 2022.

No claim form is required for participation in the Coastline Equipment settlement; checks will be mailed automatically to those who are eligible.

    ILYM GROUP WON’T PAY!
I wanted to say how frustrating it has been to deal with this company. Several of my former colleagues at Xtreme Xpress have not been paid what is owed to them from the class action settlement. I only found out about it through social security. I was never contacted by ILYM or the attorneys regarding the settlement.1099ed me. It seems that they do not know what they are doing. This is not acceptable. in the mission statement for this company, “communication“ is something they strive for. Customer based service. All B.S. today is 5/20/23. I started my communication with them in December 2022. Finally talked to somebody for the second time. For a check re-issue. 10 tp 14 days…….After a month and a half no check. I called they said it takes 4 to 6 weeks still no check in it’s it’s now May. It’s not just the amount of time that it took to get a hold of somebody, when you add that to they are the rudest people I have ever spoken to that are supposed to be in customer service. It is even more sad to see that this is the experience of everybody. What the heck is really going on over there and what can be done?
    Class action???!!!!
