According to the class action lawsuit, students did not receive the full value of their tuition and fees for the spring 2020 semester due to COVID-19 closures. The plaintiff in the case says students should have received tuition refunds to compensate them for their lack of access to campus and related services.
Johns Hopkins University is a university in Baltimore. The university closed its campus during the spring 2020 semester to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johns Hopkins hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $6.6 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve these allegations.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on how much they paid for tuition and fees for the spring 2020 semester. Exact payments will vary. No payment estimates are available at this time.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 18, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for April 17, 2023.
