Vision Solar systems class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: A group of 22 solar consumers are suing Vision Solar.
  • Why: The plaintiffs say the company falsely advertised their solar systems.
  • Where: The Vision Solar systems class action lawsuit was filed ina New Jersey federal court.

Vision Solar preyed on vulnerable populations to sell a solar system that did not work as promised, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

A group of 22 plaintiffs filed the class action lawsuit against Vision Solar LLC on April 10 in a New Jersey federal court, alleging violations of state and federal consumer laws.

According to the lawsuit, Vision Solar fraudulently induced homeowners in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to enter into agreements to purchase residential solar photovoltaic systems.

“Vision Solar deliberately targeted vulnerable populations—including low-income, disabled, and elderly individuals—and induced them into the purchase or lease of Solar Panel Systems by systematically misrepresenting the benefits of Solar Panel Systems, including homeowners’ eligibility for tax credits, the performance of the Solar Panel Systems, and the financial terms of the loans and leasing transactions,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiffs say the alleged tactics have been described by the Connecticut Attorney General as “the worst [the office] has seen.”

Vision Solar’s complete failure to perform as promised has left thousands of defrauded customers paying for Solar Panel Systems that are either not working at all because they are not hooked up to the power grid, or performing so far below the levels promised by Vision Solar, that they are losing money on a net basis, they add.

Hundreds of complaints filed, lawsuit states

So far, hundreds of complaints have been filed with the attorneys general of the states in which Vision Solar and its financing partners operate, the lawsuit states.

Vision Solar’s deception regarding material and foundational aspects of the sales and financing agreements for the Solar Panel Systems render each and every agreement void, the plaintiffs say.

They say they would never have entered into agreements with Vision Solar absent the company’s “lies” which allegedly saw products that don’t work sold via unfair means.

As a result, the plaintiffs seek to represent all homeowners in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania who purchased Solar Panel Systems from Vision Solar and entered into agreements with Financing Companies.

They are suing for fraudulent inducement, unjust enrichment and violations of state consumer law. The plaintiffs seek certification of the class action, restitution, disgorgement of profits, recission of the sales and financing agreements, and damages.

Meanwhile, Tesla is fighting class action claims that it has been unfairly hiking up the price of its solar roof tile system.

  1. Alok Bhute says:

I bought vision solar in Oct 2021. It worked good for a few months but once there was some mal function in the software of the panel, nobody came to fix the issue even after I tried calling them couple dozen times.

    1. Alok Bhute says:

Please add me to this class action

  2. Dorins says:

Same with us too. Almost 3 years and no solar very aggravating they can come take it off my roof and pay for a new roof

  3. Denise Wood says:

We are in the same boat. It has been a year and ½ and the panels are in but no one comes to connect. The loan funded and at this time they are making the payments but I want them work or come and get them off my roof. We hear the same thing every week we call. Who ever the field manager is, he is MIA!! After reading this I am resigned to think it will never happen and that there is a huge loan out there in my name. Add me to the class action.

  4. Jeff says:

My system from Solar Vision has never passed inspection after 2.5+ years. I’ve filed many bbb complaints with no resolution. We’ve called so many times I’ve lost count. I don’t know what to do at this point.

  5. Melvin R Simmons III says:

I am experiencing the same things as the people above i am paying for solar that has never been turned on and am looking to file a suit against them in arizona

  6. Virginia Mangeney says:

I signed with Vison Solar that got me into a financial situation a year and a half ago and I don’t have Solar hooked up. I am paying their finance company and my FPNL bill. It is making me as an elderly financially strapped.

    1. Diane Wright says:

My husband an I are in the same situation. A year and half with no hook up and an unsafe electrical hookup to the electric panel. We have been forced to begin to file bankruptcy as we can’t afford to pay essentially 2 electric bills. Our lawyer hasn’t been able to have Vision Solar served, so can’t get them into court for a judgement. I’m not sure how to join the class action suit. I am 77 and my husband is 80. We don’t need this in our old age. It is ruining our retirement.

  7. Linda A Stamnes and William Stamnes says:

We signed up on 12/3/22 to get the solar panels on our home since we had them on our home in NJ for 12 years and they worked wonderfully. In NEW JZERSEY No money was exchanged other than a monthly charge of $65 for the 20 year lease.
Vision Solar told us the same process is used here in Florida and the salesman convinced us to sign up. The panels were not installed until 3/23/23 then never turned on until 6/14/23. After making thousands of calls, emails etc. they are finally operational…but not really. It looks like they do not produce enough power back to FPL to lower our FLP bill and we still have to pay to the finance co.
The salesman misinformed us (vunerable Senior Citizens) and now we are in a situation which is simply crazy. We are paying more than we did without the panels!!! It seems these are either inferior and we need more panels!! I want to be part of the class action lawsuit, but dont know who to contact!!

  8. Marilyn Stevens says:

Panels were installed months ago but no inspections, not turned on, and lies, lies, lies. We need help.

  9. Margie Perez says:

I made the mistake of signing up with Vision Solar Panels a long time now. They installed the panels 4 months ago. And I’m getting withdrawn $109 from my acct yet the panels are not working. I can’t get an answer when I call them! How can I get out of this mess. Please any help you can provide is appreciated. Thank You.

    1. Diane Wright says:

We have a similar experience with Vision Solar. We are starting to file bankruptcy to end the financial drain.

  10. Robert baird says:

Just been taking so long to hook up and now hearing everyone else I have my doubts

    1. Diane Wright says:

We have a similar experience with Vision Solar. We are starting to file bankruptcy to end the financial drain. They have had 6 inspections and failed each one. No one ever shows up to fix the problems.
