Vision Solar preyed on vulnerable populations to sell a solar system that did not work as promised, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
A group of 22 plaintiffs filed the class action lawsuit against Vision Solar LLC on April 10 in a New Jersey federal court, alleging violations of state and federal consumer laws.ย
According to the lawsuit, Vision Solar fraudulently induced homeowners in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to enter into agreements to purchase residential solar photovoltaic systems.
โVision Solar deliberately targeted vulnerable populationsโincluding low-income, disabled, and elderly individualsโand induced them into the purchase or lease of Solar Panel Systems by systematically misrepresenting the benefits of Solar Panel Systems, including homeownersโ eligibility for tax credits, the performance of the Solar Panel Systems, and the financial terms of the loans and leasing transactions,โ the lawsuit states.
The plaintiffs say the alleged tactics have been described by the Connecticut Attorney General as โthe worst [the office] has seen.โย
Vision Solarโs complete failure to perform as promised has left thousands of defrauded customers paying for Solar Panel Systems that are either not working at all because they are not hooked up to the power grid, or performing so far below the levels promised by Vision Solar, that they are losing money on a net basis, they add.
Hundreds of complaints filed, lawsuit states
So far, hundreds of complaints have been filed with the attorneys general of the states in which Vision Solar and its financing partners operate, the lawsuit states.
Vision Solarโs deception regarding material and foundational aspects of the sales and financing agreements for the Solar Panel Systems render each and every agreement void, the plaintiffs say.ย
They say they would never have entered into agreements with Vision Solar absent the companyโs โliesโ which allegedly saw products that donโt work sold via unfair means.ย
As a result, the plaintiffs seek to represent all homeowners in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania who purchased Solar Panel Systems from Vision Solar and entered into agreements with Financing Companies.
They are suing for fraudulent inducement, unjust enrichment and violations of state consumer law. The plaintiffs seek certification of the class action, restitution, disgorgement of profits, recission of the sales and financing agreements, and damages.
Meanwhile, Tesla is fighting class action claims that it has been unfairly hiking up the price of its solar roof tile system.ย ย

50 thoughts onVision Solar class action claims company defrauded customers with nonworking, defective systems
I bought a home in Nevada 4 years ago and I assumed the lease for the solar panels that were installed by Vision Solar. They worked great until a few months ago when it stopped working completely. They did come out at first to see what the problem was and said we needed a new inverter. Months have gone by and we have gotten no response and we are paying high prices for our energy bill now. I see now that nothing will ever be done about this and I would like to be a part of this class action law suit.
I live in Waltham Ma. We signed on with Vision Solar 2021 and it took us 2 years to finally be hooked up. They came in and put the panels on without getting permits, we were then having to pay the finance company, plus the electric because they werenโt even hooked up. We couldnโt get the town to sign off so we could get the solar hooked up until they pull the correct permits. They were suppose to pay us for what we were paying the finance company that only happen for 2 months. Vision Solar still owes us a sign up bonus, the month that we had to pay the finance company until we were finally hook up. It was very time consuming and frustrating that you couldnโt speak with anyone you had to leave a message with the concierge dept. Needless to say this was the worse decision we every made.
I just found out that Vision Solar is out of business โฆ Iโve had multiple problems with the system and its been completely frustrating They deceived delayed and disappointed at every turn. They stipulated that they would pay to remove trees and that my roof was plenty sturdy enough for panels also roofing shingles are new enough not to need replacementโฆ Now there gone (Vision Soler) the trees still stand (blocking the sun) they had to install Knee wall structural support in my attic making it very difficult for storage and in the prosses of repairing the loose soler panel tracks (they never tightened properly) caused a roof leak. Not to mention the the loose panel track that fell off the roof and punctured the hot tub cover โฆ
I signed the contract with vision solar in August of 2020 it took them 3 years to finally get it installed and up and running and then I find out from them that I donโt qualify to get a credit from The electric company on my electric bill so it is just sitting there and I would like to get into this lawsuit
I live in Haverhill, Mass. My husband and I signed a contract with Vision Solar in October of 2021. For 3 years, calling them, arguing with them, telling them to come take the panels off, not paying for them and on and on and on. I have just recently found out the the company went under. I now have none working solar panels on my roof.
My system from Vison Solar has been down since Aug 15, 23. I have made numerous calls to the company and have not received any call backs and my system has not been repaired and finance company is still getting funds from my account. I am located in orlando, fl
How do I become a party to the class action lawsuit? Same story here in Massachusetts, delays, broken promises from Vision Solar, system underperforming, etc etc etc.
We signed up on 02/22/22 to get the solar panels in Florida by Vision Solar and the salesman convinced us to sign up. The panels were not installed until 06/01/23 then never turned on until 10/14/23. After making thousands of calls, emails etc. they are finally operationalโฆbut not really. It looks like they do not produce enough power back to Duke Energy to lower our Duke Energy bill and we still have to pay to the finance co. They also agreed to send us a bonus of 500.00 dollars and a refund for the months that it was not connected. We have called 427 times and sent 313 emails and the only thing they tell us is that we are on a list to pay when they have money. Please help us. My husband and I are 70 years old and my husband is a Cancer patient.
The salesman misinformed us (vunerable Senior Citizens) and now we are in a situation which is simply crazy. We are paying more than we did without the panels!!! It seems these are either inferior and we need more panels!! I want to be part of the class action lawsuit, but dont know who to contact!!
