World Variety Produce issued a recall for Melissa’s brand hot kimchi over concerns the product failed to list fish as an ingredient, creating an allergy risk.
The recall includes certain Melissa’s Kimchi Hot sold in 14 ounces from four separate lots, including lot nos. 48528201, 48858701, 49003901 and 49003901, according to a recall published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Dec. 26.
World Variety Produce says it sold the recalled Melissa’s Kimchi Hot from bulk displays at Sun International Stores in Florida, Brookshire Brothers stores in Texas and OK Produce – Grocery Outlet stores in California from Dec. 15-Dec. 21.
Consumers who purchased the recalled Melissa’s brand hot kimchi should return the product to its original place of purchase to receive a full refund.
World Variety Produce, FDA investigating undeclared allergen issue
World Variety Produce says it stopped producing and distributing the Melisssa’s Kimchi Hot while it and the FDA continue investigating the issue.
The company says it has not received any reports of illnesses in connection with the recall. Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact World Variety Produce at (800) 588-0151.
In another recall involving undeclared allergen concerns, Weis Markets recalled 108 containers of its Weis Quality Sea Salt Caramel Ripple Ice Cream in November 2022 over concerns it may have contained undeclared soy and coconut.
