Walmart announces apple juice recall due to high arsenic levels
Walmart is affected by a recall of nearly 10,000 cases of Great Value brand apple juice due to potentially harmful levels of inorganic arsenic.ย
The recall affects 9,535 cases sold across 25 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Florida-based manufacturer Refresco Beverages US Inc. issued the voluntary recall after detecting arsenic levels exceeding industry standards in six-packs of 8-ounce juice bottles.ย
The product may cause temporary health issues but is unlikely to result in severe or lasting harm, according to the recall notice. Elevated levels of arsenic can lead to symptoms, such as vomiting, abdominal pain and muscle cramping. The Food and Drug Administration has not reported adverse reactions from consumers.
Fisher-Price announces recall for dumbbell toy due to choking hazard
Fisher-Price recalled the dumbbell toy included in its Baby Biceps Gift Set due to a choking hazard, affecting approximately 366,200 units in the United States and 37,850 in Canada.ย
The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the recall Aug. 29 after seven reports of the toyโs gray end caps detaching.
Consumers should stop using the dumbbell toy immediately and keep it out of reach of children, the recall notice states. Fisher-Price is offering a $10 refund for the toy without requiring proof of purchase. Customers must upload a photo of the product to the companyโs website and follow instructions for proper disposal.ย
M&P Food Production recalls vareniki, pirozhki, blintzes due to allergens
M&P Food Production recalled several of its blintzes, pirozhki and vareniki products due to undeclared allergens.ย
The productsโ packaging may contain undeclared wheat, milk and/or sesame, which could pose a serious or life-threatening risk to individuals with allergies or sensitivities to these ingredients, the recall notice states.ย
No illnesses have been reported. Consumers who purchased the affected products should return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For any questions regarding the recall, customers can contact the company at 718-438-5197.
GM Cruise probe ends; automaker to recall 1,200 robotaxis
General Motorsโ autonomous vehicle subsidiary, Cruise LLC, issued a recall for nearly 1,200 self-driving vehicles due to concerns over their automated driving system.ย
The ADS can trigger an unexpected braking maneuver if a vehicle or cyclist suddenly approaches from the rear, the recall notice states. This abrupt braking could increase the risk of a rear-end collision.
Software updates implemented in 2023 and during a temporary pause in operations between October 2023 and May 2024 addressed the issue, according to the recall notice. Cruise states the updates significantly reduced the likelihood of unexpected braking and improved the systemโs perception, predictionย and planning components.ย
While this recall concludes the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration probe, the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are still investigating GM Cruise following an incident where one of its robotaxis ran over a pedestrian.ย
Aldi announces recall for Ambiano coffee makers due to burn risk
Aldi issued a recall for approximately 28,000 Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers due to concerns the devices may expel hot water from their tops, posing a burn hazard.ย
The recall affects units in gray, blue, pink and purple with model numbers 708924 and 708925, which can be found on the bottom of the coffee makers, the recall notice says. Aldi urges consumers to stop using the recalled devices immediately and return them to any store for a full refund. Alternatively, customers can register their product online to receive an Aldi gift card and instructions on safe disposal.
The recall follows 25 reports of the Ambiano coffee makers expelling hot water, resulting in three burn injuries, according to the notice. Aldi sold these products at locations in 38 states and the District of Columbia between July and September 2023 for around $50.
