Planters nuts recall affects 2 varieties at Publix, Dollar Tree

Hormel Foods issued a recall for specific lots of Planters nuts distributed to Publix and Dollar Tree locations due to potential listeria contamination.

The recall affects Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts, according to the recall notice. The recalled 4-ounce Honey Roasted Peanuts have a UPC of 2900002097 and a best-by date of April 11, 2025. The 8.75-ounce cans of Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts have a UPC of 2900001621 and a best-by date of April 5, 2026.

Listeria is a serious bacterium that can lead to severe infections, particularly in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems, the recall notice states. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea and can cause miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women.

Hormel Foods has not received reports of illness related to this recall, and no other Planters products are affected, according to the recall notice. Customers who purchased the recalled nuts should return them for a full refund or exchange.

Martinelli’s recall issued for apple juice due to arsenic contamination

Martinelli & Co. recalled a single lot of its One Liter Apple Juice due to concerns of arsenic contamination. The recall affects nearly 25,000 cases of the juice with best-by dates of March 9, 2026, or March 10, 2026, which were shipped between March 13, 2023, and Sept. 27, 2023.

The recall follows a test by the state of Maryland that found the arsenic levels in the apple juice exceeded the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) guidance action level for inorganic arsenic, according to the recall notice. Consumers should stop using the recalled product and either discard it or return it to the place of purchase.

Martinelli’s distributed the recalled apple juice to 34 states, Puerto Rico and Panama.

Confectionary items recall affects Walmart, Target, other stores

Palmer Candy Co. issued a recall for white-coated confectionery items distributed to Walmart, HyVee, Target and Dollar General due to potential salmonella contamination. The company shipped the affected products to 17 different states.

The recall includes a wide range of sweet snacks, such as caramel swirl pretzels, patriotic pretzels, enrobed pretzel rods and white fudge cookies, the recall notice states. Although no illnesses have been reported so far, Palmer Candy halted production of these products while it conducts an investigation with the FDA.

Consumers should return the recalled items to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information, consumers can contact Palmer Candy at 800-831-0828, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arctic Cat recall affects 16,000+ snowmobiles

Arctic Cat recalled more than 16,000 of its 8000 and 9000 Series Snowmobiles due to a potential hazard with the clutch drive.

This recall affects all 2017-2021 model years and specific 2022 models of the 8000 series. The issue arises from the possibility of a broken clutch allowing fragments to escape the vehicle’s shielding, thereby posing a significant laceration risk to users, the recall notice states.

Consumers should  stop using the affected snowmobiles immediately and contact Arctic Cat to arrange a free inspection and the installation of an additional clutch guard. If the primary clutch is cracked, the company will replace it.

Arctic Cat received more than 200 reports of clutch failures, including six incidents where fragments hit consumers, resulting in four minor injuries to feet and toes, according to the recall notice. For more information, consumers can reach Arctic Cat at 800-279-2281, via email or through its website

Hyundai recall issued for certain Elantra, Kona, Venue vehicles over short circuit

Hyundai Motor America issued a recall for more than 13,000 model year 2024 Hyundai Elantra, Venue and Kona vehicles due to the risk of unexpected power loss while driving. The recall affects 13,511 vehicles, specifically those produced between Jan. 11, 2024, and Feb. 18, 2024.

The issue stems from a potential electrical short that could trigger the malfunction indicator light and/or result in a sudden loss of power, posing an increased crash risk at high speeds, according to the recall notice.

Hyundai will notify owners to bring their vehicles to a dealer for a free EGR valve assembly replacement and reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses incurred for previous repairs related to this issue, the recall notice says. Notification letters will be sent to affected owners by certified mail on June 28, 2024.
