Recall issued for infant formula sold at H-E-B, CVS

Perrigo announced a recall for a batch of premium infant formula sold under the CVS Health and H-E-B Baby brands due to the potential presence of elevated levels of vitamin D.ย

The company issued the recall Aug. 8. It affects approximately 16,500 cans of iron milk-based powder formula. While the company states short-term consumption of the affected formula is unlikely to harm most infants, it cautions that a small subset of vulnerable infants may face health complications, according to the recall notice.

Perrigo distributed the recalled formula to H-E-B stores in Texas and CVS locations across multiple states, including Texas, Florida, California and others. The company has not received any reports of adverse reactions, the recall notice states.ย

Trader Joeโ€™s announces recall for mango tangerine candles due to fire hazard

Trader Joeโ€™s issued a recall for its Mango Tangerine Scented Candles sold nationwide due to reports the candles pose a fire hazard.ย

The recall, announced Aug. 15, affects approximately 653,000 candles with SKU 56879. The candle flame spreads from the wick to the wax, creating a larger-than-expected flame and increasing the risk of fire, the recall notice states.

Trader Joeโ€™s received 14 reports of high flames associated with these candles, including three instances of minor property damage and two cases of minor burns, according to the recall notice. Consumers should stop using the candles immediately and return them to any Trader Joeโ€™s location for a full refund.ย

GM issues recall for LYRIQ vehicles due to antilock brake system defect

General Motors announced a recall of more than 20,000 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles from the 2023-2024 model years due to a potential defect in the antilock brake system.ย

The issue affects 21,469 all-wheel-drive LYRIQ vehicles and is linked to a software defect in the electronic brake control module, according to the recall notice. This defect may cause the antilock brake system to become overly sensitive during certain low-speed braking events on dry surfaces, potentially leading to reduced stopping performance and an increased risk of a crash.

To address the problem, GM says it will provide a software update for the affected vehiclesโ€™ electronic brake control module. Vehicle owners who have accepted the applicable terms and conditions will be able to receive this update wirelessly, without the need to visit a dealership, the recall notice states. GM also says it plans to notify affected owners about the recall starting Sept. 23, 2024.ย

Toyota distributor recalls 33K+ vehicles for defective capacity labels

Gulf States Toyota issued a recall for more than 33,000 Toyota vehicles from the 2023-2025 model years due to concerns about inaccurate load carrying capacity modification labels.ย

The labels on the recalled vehicles may display incorrect weight values for added accessories, potentially leading drivers to unknowingly overload their vehicles, the recall notice states. This could increase the risk of a crash.

The issue stems from programming errors that resulted in label installation that does not accurately reflect the total weight of installed accessories, according to the recall notice. Gulf States Toyota says it will send updated load capacity labels to affected vehicle owners at no cost.ย

Recall announced for DeWalt mowers over injury risk

Stanley Black & Decker recalled more than 55,000 DeWalt-brand mowers due to concerns the mowers may fail to shut off when the bail handle is released or could start without a key.ย

The recall affects approximately 46,200 mowers sold in the United States and 9,600 in Canada, specifically involving certain 2024 model year DeWalt Battery Push walk-behind mowers and DeWalt Battery Self-Propelled walk-behind mowers. The issue arises if water enters the mowerโ€™s handle support while the battery is being installed.ย

The company received 10 reports of mowers not shutting off as expected and one report of a mower starting without a key, resulting in a finger laceration, according to the recall notice. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers if they have ever been exposed to water and contact DeWALT for a free repair at an authorized service center.ย
