  • Where: The recall is effective throughout the United States.

If your menorah is shaped like a llama, brontosaurus, stegosaurus, T-rex, castle, rainbow, rainbow platform or emoji — be careful!

TJX is recalling 7,900 Festive Lights Hanukkah Menorahs in those designs after it received reports of three menorahs catching fire due to a fire hazard posed by the resin and medium-density fiberboard candle holders.

In the recall notice, TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and HomeSense, says the menorahs have inserts for nine candles and were sold at all three stores with a white hang tag and an image of a blue and silver menorah and the following text: “FESTIVE LIGHTS HANUKKAH MENORAH.”

One of the following style numbers is printed on the label on the bottom of the menorahs: 262933, 263407, 263417, 262950, 856166, 856168, 856179, 856182, 856189, 856192, 856262 or 856266.

TJX Customers Should Stop Using Menorahs, Return To Store For Refund

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled menorahs and return them to any Marshalls, HomeGoods or HomeSense stores for their choice of either a full refund or a refund in the form of a store gift card,” the company says in the notice.

Consumers can also contact TJX for instructions to submit photographic proof of appropriate disposal to receive either a full refund or refund in the form of a store gift card.

Despite the reports of the recalled menorahs burning or catching on fire when holding lit candles, no injuries or property damage have been reported.

The recalled menorahs were sold between November 2021 and January 2022 for between $8 and $15.

The recall follows a recall in Canada for some of the same products; HomeSense recalled its medium density fiberboard (MDF) Emoji Menorah, Resin Hanukkah Llama Menorah, Resin Rainbow Menorah and Resin Tower Menorah due to the same fire hazard.

As of January, the company received four reports of incidents and no reports of injuries in Canada.
