Target has announced a recall of more than 2 million Threshold candles, as glass in the product can crack, posing injury and fire hazards.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall Aug. 10. It applies to about 2.2 million 5.5-ounce, one-wick and 20-ounce, three-wick Threshold Glass Jar candles in multiple scents.
According to the recall, the candle’s jar can crack or break during use, posing laceration and burn hazards.
Target received 19 reports of the candle jar breaking or cracking during use, resulting in one minor injury, the candle recall states.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Immediately stop using recalled candles, Target recall advises
Target sold the recalled candles at its stores nationwide and on target.com from February 2020 through July 2023 for between $3 and $12, the recall says.Â
Consumers can view the recalled item numbers on the CPSC website. They are printed on the product stickers on the bottom of the glass jars.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to any Target store for a full refund or contact Target to receive a prepaid return label to return the candles by mail, the recall states.
In May, Target initiated another recall of nearly 5 million candles as they, too, posed a laceration and burn hazard.
