VistaPharm LLC issued a recall for one lot of its sucralfate oral suspension medicine due to bacillus cereus contamination. Sucralfate is an antiulcer therapeutic.
The sucralfate recall is for medicine packaged in a 16-ounce (414-milliliter) PET Bottle with National Drug Code 66689-305-16, the recall notice says The lot number is 810300 with an expiration date of Oct. 31, 2023.
The full product name on the label is Sucralfate Oral Suspension 1 gram per 10 milliliter, with the product lot and expiration date printed on the bottom right side of the label, according to the recall notice.
VistaPharm distributed the impacted lot nationwide to three different distributors.Â

VistaPharm says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall. The contamination could lead to infections, such as endocarditis and necrotizing soft tissue infections, in those who are immunocompromised, according to the recall notice.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
