Positec is recalling 17,630 of its WORX brand 13 Amp 1900 PSI Electric Pressure Washers due to an impact injury hazard that has caused at least four minor injuries to date, including cuts and bruising.
In a recall notice, Positec says the washers have a sprayer hose that can separate from the spray wand during use, posing a hazard to the user or passersby. To date, the company has received 61 reports of the spray hose and wand separation, including the four reports of minor injuries.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washers and contact Positec USA for instructions on returning the spray wand for a free replacement,” the company says in the notice.
The recall only affects washers with the model number WG606. The washers are gray and orange and have serial number ranges from 20210200078905 to 20210200096490 and from 20210200097286 to 20210200097881; the serial number is found on the product label located on the main body of the product on the back of the soap tank.
Pressure Washers Sold at Menards, Independent Hardware Stores
The pressure washers were sold for $180 at Menards stores in the Midwest and other independent hardware stores nationwide and online at www.menards.com from April 2021 through November 2021, the recall notice says.
Positec says it will provide consumers with a prepaid shipping label for return of the wand assembly and free replacement. Positec USA is contacting all known purchasers directly.
In 2020, STIHL faced a recall of its pressure washers for the same issue as the Positec recall. The company received multiple reports of the machine’s nozzle disconnecting during use, which posed an injury risk. STIHL recalled 16,400 of its RE 90 pressure washers, which were sold at authorized STIHL dealers for about $180 between May 2019 and October 2019.
