Dakota Style Foods has announced recalls on more than 200 types of pretzels, as the products may contain undeclared milk.

The recall was initially published on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website April 18. It was then expanded to include more products April 21.

It now applies to more than 200 types of pretzels distributed through retail stores in all lower 48 states and Alaska. The affected pretzels may contain undeclared milk.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the recall states.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered through a consumer complaint that a product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk, the company said.

No illnesses have been reported to date, and the company is not facing legal action over the recall; however, Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Pretzels can be returned for a full refund

The expanded recall was initiated after further testing discovered additional products containing milk were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk, the recall states.

A full list of the recalled pretzels can be seen on the FDA’s website.

Consumers who have purchased these pretzels are urged not to consume them and to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In 2022, a massive recall of beverage products made by Lyons Magnus had an avalanche effect with King’s Hawaiian announcing it recalled certain pretzel products because they contain a recalled Lyons Magnus product.

The recall came after Lyons Magnus issued a recall of nutritional and beverage products made under popular brands like Oatly and Stumptown due to potential microbial contamination.

The company announced Aug. 10 it had expanded its recall of 53 products by more than 100 additional product codes, including products made by Organic Valley.

Lyons Magnus recalled the products due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organisms Cronobacter sakazakii and clostridium botulinum, which can cause severe food poisoning. The milk may have been in the pretzel products, prompting the extended recall.
