Ozona Organics LLC recalled bottles of its Ozona and GoHealthy liquid probiotics, including some marketed for infants and toddlers, as the probiotics have the potential to become contaminated with microbial growth.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published the recall Aug. 1. It applies to 4-ounce and 16-ounce bottles of Ozona Probiotics for Digestive Health, also labeled as GoHealthy Probiotics for Infants, Toddlers and Kids in 2-ounce bottles and GoHealthy Probiotics for Infants, Kids, Men and Women in 4-ounce bottles.

According to the recall, Ozona Organics issued the recall because of high water activity in the formula that provides a potential for microbial growth, which may be harmful.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the problem, the liquid probiotic recall states.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Animal probiotics also recalled, Ozona says
Ozona Organics Dog, Cat, Equine and Swine Probiotics (intended for animal use) were also recalled in their entirety. These probiotics were distributed Aug. 2021 through July 2023 through the company’s website, ozonaorganics.com.
The Ozona Probiotics for Digestive Health for humans were distributed through the company’s website, ozonaorganics.com and amazon.com, according to the recall notice. The GoHealthy Probiotics for humans were distributed through the company’s website gohealthy.us, amazon.com and Walmart stores.
“Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to consume the products and instead dispose of them,” the liquid probiotics recall states.
This is not the first liquid probiotic to be recalled due to microbial growth. In 2021, MaryRuth’s recalled two lots of its liquid probiotic for infants due to the possibility of contamination by pseudomonas aeruginosa.
