MGA Entertainment recalled about 21 million Miniverse Make It Mini Sets, as they contain resins that can cause skin, eye and respiratory irritations. 

The recall comes after the company received more than two dozen reports of incidents related to the products, including skin burns. 

The recall was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissioner website on June 25. It applies to about 21 million Miniverse Make It Mini Sets with unused liquid resins sold in the United States, and about 1 million sold in Canada. 

Thes recalled sets include “Make It Mini Appliances,” all models and series of “Make It Mini Food,” and “Make It Mini Lifestyle.”

Make It Mini Sets can cause skin burns and respiratory irritation, recall says

The recalled Make It Mini sets contain resins that, when liquid, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested by children or adults, the recall notice says.

MGA says it has received 26 reports of incidents related to the product from children and adults so far, including reports of skin burns and irritation, respiratory irritation and one report that a consumer’s asthma was triggered.  

The resins contain acrylates in amounts that are prohibited in children’s products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 

Consumers should immediately stop using any of the Make It Mini Sets with unused resins. They should contact MGA to receive a pre-paid label to return the product. Consumers will receive a full refund or replacement product — whichever they decide. 

The affected products were sold at Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, ALDI, Hobby Lobby and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, shop.mgae.com, Target.com, Walmart.com and other sites from Oct. 2022 through June 2024. Customers can recognize the products, which are typically miniature imitations like “appliance,” “food,” or “lifestyle” items. 

Recently, JAKKS Pacific also issued a recall for around 17,500 of its Mario Kart™ 24V Ride-On Racer Car toys over concerns they could pose a crash hazard.
