  • Why: The doors pose an entrapment hazard.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States and Canada.

Chamberlain Group has issued a recall of more than 100,000 of its LiftMaster myQ Garage Door Control Panels as a safety feature in them can fail, causing a risk of entrapment.

The recall was published to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website Feb. 9 and applies to about 96,400 LiftMaster myQ garage door control panels sold in the United States and about 19,300 sold in Canada.

According to the recall, the control panel’s secondary entrapment protection system can fail causing the garage door to close even with an obstruction present, posing an entrapment hazard.

No incidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported in the United States, the recall states.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
