Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread recall overview: 

  • Who: Hy-Vee is recalling two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese products. 
  • Why: The Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread and Hy-Vee Cookies & Cream Mix were potentially contaminated with salmonella.
  • Where: The cream cheese recall impacts products distributed in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Hy-Vee recalled two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese products due to potential exposure to salmonella.

The Hy-Vee recall impacts 8-ounce Hy-Vee Whipped Cream Cheese Spread with use by dates of Aug. 7 and Aug. 14; 12-ounce Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread with a use by date of Oct. 1; and 4-ounce Hy-Vee To Go Cookies & Cream Mix along with 16-ounce  Hy-Vee Cookies & Cream Mix with use by dates of Dec. 1 and Dec. 5.

Salmonella can cause serious and fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and those with weakened immune systems.

Healthy individuals can have fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, the cream cheese recall says.

No illnesses reported from Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread Recall 

Hy-Vee says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Hy-Vee has removed the potentially impacted products from shelves. Customers can dispose of the cream cheese spread or return it to the store for a refund.

Hy-Vee Customer Care can be reached at 800-772-4098 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Gilster Mary Lee Corporation recalled one lot of its Hy-Vee Hamburger Chili Macaroni Skillet in April 2023 after it found the product contained undeclared milk.

    Yes I am and have bought many many of these and very concerned about exposure to salmonella and any of the toxins! Makes me upset they lie to us…..again & again.

    Threw two 8 oz blocks out as we no longer had the receipt … was disgusting… looked like meat on bottom of each cream cheese block… neither block was expired as just bought… totally disgusting from hy-eve…
