Prime-Line initiated a recall for about 167,000 of its glass doorknobs over concerns they can crack and separate from the doorknob assembly, creating a laceration hazard.

The recall also includes about 10,625 of the Prime-Line glass doorknobs sold in Canada, according to a recall published Aug. 31 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Prime-Line sold the recalled doorknobs under the Defender Security, Gate-House and Reliabilt brands. The doorknobs have fluted glass knobs and were sold in finishes of bronze, brass, satin nickel, matte black and chrome, according to the recall.

Prime-Line received five reports of laceration injuries, CPSC says

Prime-Line received five reports of the recalled doorknobs breaking and causing laceration injuries that resulted in stitches, the CPSC says.

The company sold the glass doorknobs for $20 to $45 from February 2022 to April 2023 at home improvement stores nationwide and online at amazon.com and wayfair.com, among other websites, according to the recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled doorknobs and contact Prime-Line directly to receive instructions on how they can obtain a full refund, according to the recall notice.

Consumers with more questions about the recall can contact Prime-Line directly by phone at (800) 729-6123, by email or online.

In another household recall involving glass, in May, ODL announced a recall for more than 39,000 of its weather glass door inserts over concerns they separate from the door under severe weather conditions, creating a risk of injury and property damage.
