FAO Schwarz Toy Wood Choking Hazard Recall Overview:

  • Who: MerchSource recalled around 46,200 of its FAO Schwarz brand Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy(s) and Toy Wood Sensory Boards.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns small parts on the products could come loose and pose a choking hazard for young children.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

MerchSource has issued a recall for around 46,200 of its FAO Schwarz brand Toy Wood Play Smart Robot Buddy(s) and Toy Wood Sensory Boards.

The recall was initiated over concerns that small parts on the products could come loose and become a choking hazard for young children, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Apr. 14.

MerchSource says the problem is a result of a manufacturing issue. The company will offer a refund to consumers who purchased the products, according to the recall.

The Robot Buddy, which sells for around $60, is described in the recall as a “sensory activity box” made with a “robot factory inspired” design that features spinners, knobs, gears and bead manipulation tasks.

The Toy Wood Sensory Board, meanwhile, sells for around $25 and is described as a “sensory activity center” that features flippers, a maze, spinners and a musical xylophone that comes with a mallet.

One batch of each product is included in the recall with a batch number of 35227A21210 for the Robot Buddy and a batch number of 59945A21207 for the Toy Wood Sensory Board, according to the recall.

FAO Schwarz Wooden Toys Recall Notices Advises Customers To Stop Using, Return Products

MerchSource says the batch numbers can be located on the inside panel of the Robot Buddy’s activity box and on the back of the Toy Wood Sensory Board.

Consumers are being advised to stop using the products and take them away from children immediately. They can contact MerchSource to receive a pre-paid label to use to return the products for a full refund.

MerchSource has received 20 reports of pieces coming loose on the products in total, according to the recall. Fortunately, the company says no injuries have been reported.

The recalled products were sold at both FAO Schwarz and Target stores around the country and online at www.faoschwarz.com and www.target.com from November 2021 to February 2022.

Consumers who want more information about the recall can contact MerchSource directly by email or phone at 800-813-8762.

A similar recall was initiated last month by B.Toys over concerns the wheels and other parts on its Wooden Toddler Walkers could fall off and pose a choking hazard for young children
