Family Dollar Beach Lounger Recall Overview:

  • Why: The loungers may collapse and injure users’ fingers that get caught in the metal frame.
  • Who: Family Dollar recalled thousands of its beach loungers.
  • Where: The recall affects products nationwide.

Family Dollar has recalled about 38,300 beach loungers due to risk of injury. The loungers can collapse unexpectedly and injure users’ fingers if they get caught in the metal folding joints of the chair.

While no injuries have been reported, Family Dollar announced the recall on Jan. 26, 2022.

The beach lounge chairs have either a red or blue woven plastic fabric and a white metal frame. There is a removable hang tag attached to the chairs with “Outdoors by Design” written on one side and “Distributed by Midwoods Brands LLC” on the other side and either SKU 3499631 or SKU 3401281 above the bar code.

SKU 3499631 chairs have a sewn-in label that reads “Outdoors by Design” at the top and “Midwoods Brands LLC” near the bottom. SKU 3401281 chairs have a sewn-in label stating “WARNING” and “DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG” near the top and “MADE IN CHINA” at the bottom.

The recalled beach loungers were sold for about $25 at Family Dollar stores nationwide and online at www.familydollar.com from January 2019 through September 2021. The recall number is 22-061.
