Crate and Barrel cribs recall overview:

  • Who: Crate and Barrel has recalled about 285 Thornhill baby cribs.
  • Why: The mattress support pins can come loose, causing the mattress to fall.
  • Where: The Crate and Barrel cribs recall is active in the U.S. and Canada.

Crate and Barrel has recalled about 285 Thornhill baby cribs as the mattress support pins can come loose, creating a fall hazard.

The recall notice was published Dec. 15 to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website. It applies to about 280 Thornhill Dark Brown and Natural Baby Cribs sold in the United States, and about five cribs sold in Canada.

The cribs are being recalled as the mattress support pins in the products can become loose or not fit properly causing the mattress to fall, posing a fall hazard.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Crate and Barrel for a full refund or free replacement,” the recall states.

Crate and Barrel is contacting all purchasers directly.

Crate and Barrel receives six reports of pins falling out

Crate and Barrel has received six reports of incidents of the mattress support pins not fitting correctly or falling out of the crib, the recall states. No injuries have been reported so far.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The recalled cribs have a dark brown wash finish and gold-capped feet. The crib’s model number is 304-903 and is located on the mattress support board.

The cribs were sold online only at www.crateandbarrel.com from Sept. 2021 through Oct. 2022 for about $1,000, the recall states.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Crate & Barrel was hit with a class action lawsuit by one of its former employees alleging that the company’s finger scanning practice violates biometric privacy laws in the state of Illinois.
