Chicken strips recall overview: 

  • Who: Conagra Brands Inc. announced a recall of 245,366 pounds of its Banquet Chicken Strips Meal frozen entree. 
  • Why: The chicken strips could be contaminated with plastic, according to the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service.
  • Where: The recall is effective across the United States.

Conagra Brands announced a recall for 245,366 pounds ofBanquet Chicken Strips Meal frozen entrees after the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) notified it of a consumer complaint regarding plastic in the chicken.

The chicken strips recall applies to 8.9-ounce meals produced on June 20, 2023, July 11, 2023, and July 17, 2023. The products say “EST. P-9” on the side of the package and have a best-by date of Dec. 11, 2024, Jan. 1, 2025, or Jan. 7, 2025. Lot nos. include 5009317120, 5009319220 or 5009319820 and are located on the side of the carton.

The Banquet chicken strips recall applies to meals sold nationwide both in stores and online. 

One injury reported from plastic consumption related to Banquet chicken strips recall

FSIS says it received one report of oral injury related to the Banquet chicken strips recall. Conagra is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Conagra Brands also recently issued a recall of about 2,717 pounds of frozen Marie Callender’s beef shepherd’s pie products as they may be contaminated with plastic.
