Arctic Cat issued a recall for more than 16,000 of its 8000 and 9000 Series Snowmobiles over concerns their clutch drive could break, posing a laceration hazard.Â
The Arctic Cat snowmobiles recall involves all model year 2017-2021 Arctic Cat 8000 and 9000 series snowmobiles and certain model year 2022 Arctic Cat 8000 series snowmobiles.Â
Arctic Cat said a broken clutch on the recalled snowmobiles could allow fragments to escape the vehicle’s shielding and cause a laceration hazard.Â
The company advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact Arctic Cat to schedule a free inspection and installation of an additional clutch guard, as well as a new primary clutch if it is found to be cracked.Â
Arctic Cat recall: More than 200 reports of clutches failing on snowmobilesÂ
Arctic Cat said it has received more than 200 reports of clutches on the recalled snowmobiles failing — including six cases of fragments hitting consumers and four cases of minor foot and toe injuries. Â
The recalled snowmobiles were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide for between $8,000 and $22,000 from September 2016 through January 2024.Â
