Turkish bathrobe recallThe United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Restoration Hardware has recalled its Ultra-Soft Turkish Robes because they allegedly do not meet flammability standards and could pose a fire hazard as a result.

The CPSC states that the recall was issued on Aug. 30, 2019, after Restoration Hardware received three incident reports in the U.S. and one in Canada, in which the robes caught fire while a wearer was using a gas stove. Happily, no injuries have been reported.

The recall affects RH’s adult Ultra-Soft Turkish robes, made of 100 percent cotton. The robes are unisex and available in sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. The robes are available in black, dark gray, light, gray, green and white. The robes have long sleeves, two front pockets, and a belt. Customers had the option to have the robes monogrammed.

The robes were made in Turkey, and were imported by RH US LLC, or Corte Madera, California. Their RN number is 104581 and CA number is 55697. These numbers are printed on a label sewn into the robe’s side.

The CPSC notes that the robes were sold at Restoration Hardware galleries, outlets, and warehouse sales around the country. They were also sold online at RestorationHardware.com between August 2018 and March 2019 at the price of between $80 to $115.

The CPSC advises customers to immediately stop using the recalled robes, and to contact RH for a full refund of their purchase of the robes.

Customers can contact RH at 800-762-1715 between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, or between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Saturday and Sunday. Customers can also reach the company by email at recall@rh.com.

More information is available on their website.

The recall number for this product is 19-196. The CPSC invites customers to report an incident involving the product on the recall announcement page.

Defective products are frustrating and can cause financial injury, but more seriously, they can pose a physical risk. Consumers rely on the products they purchase to be safe to operate and free from defects. However, this is not always the case. If a product is found to be dangerous or defective, a company can issue a recall of a device, or the Consumer Product Safety Commission can issue a recall.

Recalls help to limit the danger of possibly defective products, and in some recalls, consumers can receive compensation for a defective product they purchased, in the form of a replacement, a refund, or another benefit.
