Walker Edison Furniture has recalled around 121,000 of its Twin Over Twin Bunk Beds over concerns that wooden slats supporting the bunk beds can break, presenting both fall and impact hazards.

Walked Edison has received 14 separate reports of the bunk bed slats breaking, with one report of a minor injury, according to a recall published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on May 4. 

The recalled Walker Edison bunk beds were sold by online retailers — including Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, Overstock, and Wayfair — from February 2010 through February 2022 for between $206 and $389. 

Owners of recalled Walker Edison bunk beds advised to stop using product immediately

Consumers who own the recalled Walker Edison bunk beds are advised to immediately stop using them and to contact the company to receive a free repair kit, which will come with new wooden slats and instructions.

In a separate recall involving furniture, Bestar issued a recall for more than 180,000 of its wall beds over concerns they could pose an impact and crushing hazard, following the death of a 79-year-old woman who injured her spine after a Bestar bed fell on her.

    When i had my children and as they gotten older and my apt. had two bedrooms my two girls wanted their own bed and i thought the bunk bed would work. I did my research as to what others who bought the bunk bed and there were incidents that the bed was not as solid as they thought it was and kids fell out of the bed.
