Three types of frozen Greek yogurt desserts sold at Costco have been subject to a recall due to concerns about metal fragments in the product.

The recall notice issued by Costco names three treats made by Clio Snacks: Clio Snacks Mixed Berry & Peach Less Sugar, Clio Snacks Vanilla & Strawberry Minis, and Clio Snacks Vanilla & Strawberry. The recalled frozen desserts that were sold at Costco have expiration dates ranging from Feb. 2, 2021, to July 11, 2021, and come with one of the following UPC numbers: 854021008220, 854021008138, or 854021008022.

Costco started selling the recalled frozen treats starting as early as February, reports Eat This, Not That

Consumers are warned not to eat the recalled Costco Greek yogurt desserts. Instead, the recall notice instructs consumers to either throw away the product and email the manufacturer with proof of purchase to obtain a coupon for a replacement or go to the store for a full refund.

No injuries have been reported, but Costco says the manufacturer is recalling the items after discovering that a piece of production equipment could have shed very small metallic fragments into the products. The identified machinery has since been repaired.

“Food safety and quality is of the utmost importance to us,” says Clio Snacks in the recall notice. “Our team remains in close communications with the FDA and has taken proactive measures in remedying this situation. We are working with our trusted retail partners to implement the recall and remove the affected lots from shelf.”

Top Class Action Lawsuits will continue to monitor this and other food safety recalls to help keep consumers informed.
