The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent the following refunds in March to consumers who qualify to benefit from settlements made with the agency to resolve various claims.

NutraClick refunds

The FTC sent refund checks to consumers who were charged by health and wellness company NutraClick for unwanted memberships and who were not previously sent a payment by the FTC in January 2023.

The refunds are part of a nearly-decade-old settlement made in 2016 to end claims NutraClick automatically enrolled consumers in unwanted membership programs.

The FTC filed another complaint against NutraClick in 2020 over claims the company misled consumers about when they needed to cancel their memberships to avoid monthly charges.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 60 days.

Pointbreak Media refunds

The FTC reissued refund checks to small business owners who were defrauded by deceptive robocalls originating from defendants falsely claiming to represent Google and who did not cash their initial payment.

The defendants — who used the business names Pointbreak Media, Modern Spotlight, National Business Listings and Modern Source Media — threatened small business owners that their business would be removed from Google search results if they did not pay a fee.

The agency previously issued more than $1.8 million in total in refund checks in August 2020, March 2023 and January 2024.

Small business owners who receive a refund check are asked to make sure to cash it within 60 days.

Vroom refunds

The FTC sent more than $934,000 in refund checks to more than 20,000 consumers who bought a vehicle from online used car dealer Vroom.

The refunds are part of a settlement made to end claims Vroom often failed to deliver cars within 14 days of purchase, as promised, and then failed to give its customers the opportunity to either accept a new delivery date or cancel the purchase and get refunded.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.

Response Marketing refunds

The FTC sent 3,955 more refund payments totaling more than $8.3 million to consumers who paid for a deceptive real estate investment training program from Response Marketing.

The agency issued more than $8.2 million in refunds in March 2024 and is now sending another round of payments — after it collected additional funds — to consumers who accepted their first payment or filed a valid claim prior to the deadline.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days, while those who receive a PayPal payment are asked to accept it within 30 days.

Career Step refunds

The FTC sent more than $15.5 million to nearly 43,000 consumers who paid for training programs from online career-training company Career Step.

The refunds are part of a settlement agreed to by Career Step to end allegations it made false claims related to externships, hiring partnerships and job placement and outcomes.

The FTC also accused Career Step of violating the law by offering “free” program extensions in exchange for posting online reviews.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days, while individuals who receive a PayPal payment are asked to accept it within 30 days.

Vitagene refunds

The FTC sent PayPal payments to consumers who purchased DNA test kits or health reports from DNA testing company Vitagene and who did not cash previous checks sent by the agency in September 2024.

The refunds are part of a settlement agreed to by Vitagene to end claims the company failed to keep its promise to store its customers’ health and genetic information in a secure environment, leading to more than 2,000 health reports being unprotected.

Consumers who receive a PayPal payment are asked to accept it within 30 days.

Restoro, Reimage refunds

The FTC sent more than $25.5 million to consumers who bought computer repair services from tech support companies Restoro and Reimage.

The refunds — which include more than 735,000 PayPal payments — are part of a settlement made by Restoro and Reimage to end claims they used misleading online advertisements and Microsoft Windows pop-up screens to frighten consumers into buying computer repair services.

The agency argued Restoro and Reimage told consumers they found viruses and other issues when they actually had not.

Consumers who are eligible to receive a refund will have received an email between March 10 and 13, 2025, and are asked to accept their PayPal payment within 30 days of receiving it.

Pure Green Coffee refunds

The FTC sent more than $905,000 to nearly 40,000 consumers who purchased Pure Green Coffee pills — which the FTC argued was a sham weight loss product.

The refunds are part of a settlement agreed to by the sellers of Pure Green Coffee to end claims the coffee pills were sold based on deceptive advertising.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days, while individuals who receive a PayPal payment are asked to accept it within 30 days.

Arete Financial refunds

The FTC sent a second round of payments to consumers who paid money to Arete Financial Group for student debt relief the agency claims was simply false promises.

The refunds end claims Arete Financial pretended to be affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education while falsely promising to reduce or eliminate monthly student loan payments while charging illegal upfront fees and recurring monthly fees.

The FTC previously sent more than $2.6 million in refunds in June 2023 and is now sending more than 18,000 checks totaling more than $550,000 to consumers who accepted the first payment and paid Arete Financial more than $750.

Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.
