gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

Complete false advertising, yet they continue to advertise as non-stick. Everything sticks to the pan, doesn’t matter how much oil you use it still sticks and burn. Need to scrub with a steel wool to get everything off, yet the surface looks normal.

In July 2020 I purchased a pan on sale while at Walmart and was initially excited as I was as in need of a new pan anyway.

Worked great for just over a week before things began sticking…..absolutely brutal!

  3. Veronica Bendig says:

Not only do they stick but they readily scratch and the finishing in the edges wears easily.

  4. Cory Claussen says:

  5. Karen Militello says:

Sounds like they’ve blatantly lied to the world about their product. I was also fooled into buying one of their products. The only reason I bought this pan was because of the flashy packaging on the pan, bragging about how no oil or butter was required. The first thing I did when I got it was fry an egg. Huge mistake! It stuck so bad, it was very difficult to clean. Since then, there has been these small stains, that kind of look like burnt on stuff, that I haven’t been able to remove. I haven’t tried any real abrasives because I know that will damage the surface of any non-stick pans. We recently tried to cook breakfast sausages on it and all the casings of the sausages had stuck to the pan, ruining a whole package of sausages. Not only have I wasted money on a useless pan but I have now wasted a whole lot more on groceries too.

I purchased the 2 pack at Costco.Everything sticks, they are very frustrating to try to clean. they seem kind of porous so am never sure they are quite clean. Miserable pans, big mistake.

  9. Jim says:

I bought the whole set of pots and pans and they do not work at all!! I’ve tried their customer service and they want me to pay to ship the pan back to them before they give me a new one. It will cost more for me to ship it than the pan is worth!! I will never purchase another one and will tell everyone I know to avoid them like the plague!!

  10. Alicia T Myers says:

I just received the frying pans that I have ordered two months ago. I have a letter stating that they were sorry for a late delivery but they charged me twice. I bought one frying pan and would get the second free if I paid for the shipping which I did. When I received it I cleaned it as a chef who knows what she is doing I made an egg. It did nothing but stick. I could go to the dollar store and find a better pan which I have and still use that pan to this date. Please help because they are giving me bullshit answers and hung up on me 3 times and I’m going to call again. my fiance Shane Colon is going to talk to them and we are going to record the conversation. We will send this to you if you are willing to help us in this situation
