gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.โ€™s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.ย

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking โ€œseverelyโ€ to the pan within a month of Mackโ€™s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were โ€œoften caked with black burn marksโ€ and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mackโ€™s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits โ€œdeceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any serviceโ€ in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.โ€™s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

not only do things stick to the pan, but one of the rivet caps on the handle exploded and I was lucky not to get injured. not only is this product โ€œnot as advertisedโ€ but it is also dangerous!

  2. Buddy Cromer says:

I got my wife about everything they sell and after a few months I have to scrub the stuff off. How do you get added to the law suit

  3. AZ says:

Yup. Burny, caked on mess. Definitely not non-stick. My mother bought one last year. Iโ€™ve never seen a skillet act this way, and I am a professional cook. Awful.

  4. Jim Holian says:

I would like to participate in the class action lawsuit over this product. I purchased a Gothom Steel โ€œNON-STICKโ€ pan, item number 9061 and everything put in the pan to cook sticks! This pan is junk. Itโ€™s NOT non-stick and it discolors after about a monthโ€™s usage. This pan should be taken off the market and the company should be penalized for the false advertising and baiting.

  5. Amanda Tack says:

I received a set of Gotham steel pans for Christmas and they have recently started to stick very badly, no matter what Iโ€™m cooking. Doesnโ€™t matter if I am using nothing, oils or butter itโ€™s all sticking. There is also a residue/stain left behind from the food even after they come out of the dishwasher and I hand wash them to try and get it out. Beginning to think I got crappy pans.

  6. Roberta Robinson says:

I bought the 9 1/2 โ€ Gotham pan back in February for $20. I prefer pans that are non-stick and oven safe. I followed the instructions and from the very first use, food stuck to the pan. Iโ€™ve cooked in the pan using butter, vegetable oil and without any oil. Every time, and I mean every time I use the pan, the food sticks. I have to soak the pan in soap and water each time to get it clean. Either the coating was faulty from the beginning, or the claims they make in the TV advertisements are out right lies. The pan I purchased is not non-stick. Very upset with this product. Definitely a scam!

  7. Tiffany Barker says:

These pans are terrible! I bought the Gotham pan set back in February mainly because they were non stick but also because they claimed to be dishwasher safe. They didnโ€™t last a month before the Pans were no longer non stick! Very frustrating since I paid almost $100 for the set. Very disappointed!

  8. Myron D Bloom says:

I bought a bunch of these based on the recommendation of the commercial one was worse than the other my stainless steel pots clean much better much faster much easier

  9. Karla says:

I just bought the set of two at Costco less than a month ago, and itโ€™s already sticking . One of them itโ€™s impossible to remove when washing (basically trash because I canโ€™t cook anything on it)

  10. Maria Avilez says:

Me and my boyfriend were just now discussing these pans. We both purchased 2 sets each and both sets or I should say the 4 sets failed miserably and were just as the comments complained
