gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. Patrick says:

I recently bought a set a month ago and have yet to receive the pans. After i finally find out half of my order was canceled by the vendor, i spent hours on hold just to be told they would not issue the refund for my order that still has not been fully processed.
They are a joke of a company and i will be joining in the class action lawsuit against them.

  2. CRoyYokingco says:

I agree with most comments here, Gotham Steel cookware works as advertised the first few times they are used but soon thereafter they loose their non-stick properties. Not buying another Gotham Steel product.

  3. Michelle Ewing says:

Everything sticks and burns. Bought the entire set for kids wedding gift. How do we get into class action suit?

  4. Diane Berube says:

I bought my husband an entire set. What a disappointment. Everything sticks to these pans!! Will never buy this again & will tell everyone of our experience. Total scam!

  5. Bonnie TIffin says:

Agree with all previous comments! Total fraud!

  6. Melissa Wilson-Castellanos says:

I bought the entire set from Khols as they were on sale. Now i know why. I followed instructions & in less than 2 months all the pans started destroying our food. We wasted good money on this product & we had a loss to our food that was ruined from severely sticking to the pans. I cook everyday, several times a day and tried using the pans for the intended use, cooking. Extreme disappointment when they failed. We aren’t rich people & i was thrilled to see the pans i wanted for so long finally be cheap enough to justify the sacrifice & buy them. All at a LOSS. NOW, im saving up again for new pans. I had to go to goodwill & buy used ones. They cook food better than gothem that’s for sure!!

  7. Josh Regis says:

I purchased a Gotham steel pan less than a month ago and after cooking chicken on it last night. Same as we have done in the past half of it has now stuck on char that literally will not come off with everything. Paid over forty dollars for the pan at my nearest Walmart.

  8. Larry Whisenant says:

I bought three of these pans from Costco and Walmart. Loved than at first, now EVERYTHING STICKS!

  9. Chris Avena says:

I have spent over a hundred on Gotham steel products and the latest problem was at 400 degrees during cooking the coating came off and ruined the food which I had to throw out.

    1. Ana Nieves says:

I bought a set of Gotham Steel pans at Costco they worked for about 2 months and then started sticking.

  10. leslie wilson says:

I have continued to purchase these pans over and over again because they get good reviews and I figured I was getting a bad batch of product. I will be returning another to Amazon as not only does the food stick, even when using oil or butter, but the sides of the pan burn at a low heat, when cooking fried eggs, making the pan sides completely black after only a few uses. These should be pulled off the market.
