gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

Yes this was exactly my experience too! I’m so tired of over-priced items that don’t deliver on their promises! :(

  2. Laura Schofield says:

My grandmother initially purchases a full set of cookware and bakeware for me upon moving into my first apartment. She saw the advertisement on TV and thought it would be a good set for my husband and I. Within a month they were all sticking. I got back in touch with the website we ordered through and figured it was just a defective set. They requested I send them back to them, so I did. I ordered another set through the same company and within a month I was having the same problem so I called again and let them know, they said that I should use oil or butter on the pan and not to run them through the dishwasher. I had been hand washing them with a sponge that didn’t have a hard side to it and began using oil or butter, and it was still sticking. So I called back and let them know that the product wasn’t working as described.

I purchased 2 of their pans one a 9.5 inch and one square frog pan. Both jabs has sticking problems from early use and one, the 9.5 inch had the entire ring on the bottom of the pan total disintegrate after a run in the dish washer. I still have both of them but don’t use them because they didn’t preform as advertised.

  4. ChienT Kuo says:

I bought one 9’5 inch steel titanium ceramic pan on March 22, 2019. It worked for a while then food started to stick.

  5. Roseann Dobesh-DeGraff says:

We replaced all of our pots & pans we have had over the years with these pans which claimed non stick without oil / butter or spray. They worked for a while, but no longer work and we are ready to throw them in the trash due to ALL food sticking in them. Unable to find out how to get replacements for them or “warranty”.
Please help all of us who have fallen victim to these claims.

  6. Ree says:

I purchased one of their pans once because it was advertised as non-stick. The second time I used it (only cooked eggs in it both times) the food stuck. I immediately returned it to store for refund.

  7. Deb Weiss says:

I purchased 2 as a set in December and by about the 4th use everything was sticking. It was ONLY non-stick for about the first 3 uses. Even using oil, things stick. I did follow the directions about only using oil at low heat but am so frustrated with these pans! Cooking Sprays HAVE NEVER been used in these pans.

Everything sticks to the pan and they are impossible to clean.
