gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

I bought a set at Christmas. I noticed scratches in the bottom of my skillets. Very frustrating. I also find them very hard to clean.

  2. Ruth Kendricks says:

I bought 5 different sized fry pans, 3 different sized pots, and 2 different sized broiler pans All came with lids and the guarantee of food never sticking. The food not only stuck but left the inside of the pans dark and discolored permanently. I’d like to join the class action lawsuit. Please contact me

I received the 10 piece set as a Xmas present. I was so excited when I opened the box. That excitement quickly turned to to major dissapointment. The very first time I used one of the pans, the food stuck horribly and left permanent discoloration. Something as simple as making a grilled cheese sandwich was a disaster.

  3. Joseph Blake says:

I bought two of them. What a sucker. Immediately everything stuck to it. Both of them.
I find it hard to believe they can get away with there ads on television.

  4. Tanna Holmes says:

I purchased the the Gotham steel 10 piece set in dec of 2019 as a gift for my boyfriend. They started sticking within a month or so. We have to use butter, oil, Pam and food still sticks. I have to scrub them to clean them. I feel ripped off and embarrassed that I actually gave these as a gift!

  5. London Millet says:

I have purchased two pans within the last few months, and both were sticking within a couple of months…and the warranty is totally WORTHLESS… Because it is OFFERED, no PROPER warranty can be applied… The warranty, for example on a $20 pan is “send $10.00 for replacement”…and it costs around $10 to send back the pan! Nothing is offered to the customer for HIS “Shipping and handling”! One can buy another worthless pan on sale for less!

Gotham pans not only stick but burn bottom of food Black after first use. False advertising is against the law.
I reverted back to my old standby stainless steel pans for health and safety reasons.

  7. CVP says:

I bought a set of 2 pans and 1 grill approximately 2 years ago. Everything sticks to them and they are very hard to clean.

  8. Chuck says:

I purchased just one of the large skillets as I’m always skeptical of any new product claiming to be “perfect”. The nonstick effect worked for a short time but didn’t last very long. I keep it around as a backup pan now but am not surprised by the maker’s claims and results. I expect there will NEVER be an absolutely long lasting nonstick pan invented and I’ll stay with the “old reliable “ teflon coated pans.

  9. Mark Schroeder says:

I purchased a full set and individual pans and after about a year of use everything sticks to the pans even when using oil or margarine.

  10. Cheryl Clark says:

I purchased a whole set of Gotham pans, as well as Individual pieces. At first the pans worked beautifully, but after about 4 months, which was after the 90 day guarantee, everything was sticking, with or without oil, spray or butter. I went on line to customer service to file a complaint, however, that sites only option is to check on the status of your order or order the product. I am now using my very old Teflon pans that are non-stick with a little spray due to their age. This product is misrepresented as non-stick.
