gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. Darlene Triezenberg says:

I’ve had two of them now, thought maybe the first one was just defective. Ended up throwing them both away. The worst non-stick pans I’ve ever used.

  2. Di says:

Yes we’ve bought serveral at a “as seen on TV” store’s. Everything we tried stuck like Glue.

  3. Norman Albanese says:

Everything sticks to these pans even with oil or Pam spray. I never used metal utensils in the pan but I had chips and hairline cracks in the coating. Cooking on a piece of sheet metal would be as good. Makes for an expensive drip pan for my garage.

  4. Elvia Murrell says:

I had the very same experience. I had to use oil and it didn’t help. A black spot formed and everything stuck to the pan. Had to throw away.

  5. Virginia Shekell says:

I bought 3 sets of these because we wanted to be able to cut back on our use of butter for frying eggs, making grilled cheese sandwiches, and warming up leftover pasta. Everything burns. My daughters and I threw out these pans.

  6. Odessa says:

I bought a whole set of these pans all after two or three uses started sticking and no matter what you did to them they still stuck I called the company and was told how to clean them I followed their directions and it made them worst finally threw all of them in the trash

  7. Cynthia Chouinard says:

I bought the whole set of the Gotham Steel. I started using them like they said and they do stick. I even was frying an egg for a egg sandwich and the egg stuck to the pan. So I started using oil in the pans but it seem the eggs were still sticking to the frying pan. I thought these pots and pans would be a good thing to buy to save me money. Also they say you can use metal spoons in the pans and will not chip. Well one of my pots have a chip in the bottom. I did not want to replace them cause it would really cost me to ship them back to them. I do not recommend these Gotham pots and pans to anyone. Please Add Me!!!

Please add me to this class action against GOTHAM STEEL NON STICK COOKING PANS case 1:19-cv-08233 . I bought 2 pans and food sticks to the pan even when using oil or butter. These pans are NOT non-stick as I sadly found out. I am better off using my old stainless steel pan.

  9. Roxanne Shaw says:

I bought a whole set of these pans thinking they would be a healthy alternative to teflon. But like everyone else claims, everything sticks in these pans, even with oil. Black burnt marks in fry pans that won’t come off. Threw them out bought some more and the same thing. Everything sticks!!!
