gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. William Bull says:

The pan STICKS to everything I cook, regardless of temperature. It is a lousy product, and has been falsely advertised as non-stick. Pure lie and deception for a shitty product, probably made in china.

  2. Sherry Brown says:

Bought this pan specifically the 9 in only for eggs since it’s always nice to have an egg pan and I’ve seen the commercial infomercial multiple times and really took my time I thought I was going to be getting a really good pan and we have cooked in it not even 10 times and just everything sticks everything eggs fried egg scrambled eggs omelets with cheese without cheese the only thing I found that it was good for is making a pancakes

  3. Marissa says:

I bought a 10 piece set and from the beginning the smaller fry pan would stick or have black burn spots..even while on medium-low. The large stock pot size pan and large pan has silver spots appearing inside, and the coating is gone on the inside near the handle rivets. For the price of these sets you could add a little more and get a much better set…very disappointed. And of course it has to be the bigger pans so I don’t even want to waste the money to send them back for the warranty.

  4. Lisa Bowmaster says:

I bought a medium and large sized Gotham Steel frying pan. I followed the cooking directions that came with he pan and both pans have not lived up to their no stick claims from the first time I used them. I have even tried a small amount of cooking oil but they still stick. I am very unhappy with these two products.

  5. Warren & Lisa Kahn says:

We bought a 2 pan set from Costco and after a few months, food began to stick. Very disappointed.

  6. Martin Ham says:

These are a total ripoff and a lie. Every thing sticks. I should have known the woman in the infomercial promotes crap. She is a liar. DO NOT BUY.

  7. Stephanie Ventura says:

These are horrible! Everything sticks and is peeling all over. I purchased one of the large sets and have been very disappointed since the first week of using.

  8. Linda says:

I bought a set through Amazon. The large baking sheet has film on it and things stick to it. They aren’t scratch resistant either.

  9. Albert L Peacock says:

I also bought 2 and since the second use of each, everything sticks way worse than my normal non-stick pans. I went back to using my Calphalon pans because they are far far better. Not perfect but much better than these pieces of crap that are supposed to be “non-stick”.

  10. KATHY ATTIA says:

I was very upset that my set didn’t last the month. After I used the baking dish to make a cake it peeled from the inside exposing the metal. I do not know if it is safe to use after that and was researching it when I stumbled on this site. For the very least they should replace the set. The frying pans that I used to cook in have the same problem everyone on here has. Everything sticks and to think they are still being sold at the astonishing price of $200 is a rip-off and fraud.
