gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. Susan says:

Like everyone else, I have used and cleaned my frying pan exactly as directed. Everything I cook in it sticks. I’m extremely disappointed in it. I had a ten dollar non stick pan at one time and even IT was better than the Gotham brand.

  2. Greg M says:

Everything sticks! I first started with the green pans when they came out, they were terrible. Then the copper pans came out and I was foolish enough to drink the cool aid again. Everything sticks even bacon!

  3. Steven scheuutzow says:

My son purchased 2 fry pans , I can not get them clean , the pans have brown spots which will not come off . How does he join the law suit.

  4. Dee Leston says:

I bought the Gotham frying pan with lid. My food stuck to the pan and started to burn. I could not get the pan clean and is now I’m not able to use it.

  5. Hilary Hershey says:

We have two 12″ skillets – one in our regular home and one in our vacation home. Both of them after about 3-4 months of regular use with only plastic cooking utensils, have nearly everything we cook stick to the pans, regardless of whether we use cooking spray, oil, butter, or nothing. I am trying to figure out how to get the company to at least honor their warranty but that will just get us a few more months of a pan that does as advertised.

  6. Lena Rawlings says:

I followed the instructions no non-stick sprays I’ve had my pans for over a year now. I don’t let allow anyone in my household to use my pans. I know how to use them properly. I had one casualty with one pan, my son used a non-stick spray on a smaller pan. I was furious, so I banned him from my larger pan. They are easy to take care of!

  7. Catie says:

My mom gifted a whole set of these to my hubby & I. At first they were fine and we used them quite often. Now a couple months in, everything sticks to them, it burns stuff!!
Now on the hunt for new pans again

  8. Amanda Jarvis says:

I bought Gotham Steel pans for myself and my daughter. We both like eggs, and being on a Keto life style, eggs are our #1 friend. My daughter needed a good pan for making her eggs without them sticking, so I suggested Gotham Steel because of their claim for complete non-stick, and purchased a 12″ fry pan for her, however that is not the case. No matter how we have tried to make fried eggs in her pan, they stuck. I had to eventually start using a little oil to keep them from sticking but now her pan is damaged with a black mark that will not come off no matter how many times it is washed. I bought a deep frypan with a lid for myself to make some of my meals, but again I cannot use it without using a little oil or everything I make will stick. The 2 pans cost me almost $50, what a rip off they are. So disappointed in this product.

  9. Gayle Thornberry says:

I bought one waste of money it stocked the first time I used it

  10. Ron Zorn says:

    These pans stick with everything
