gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

My husband purchased me the 20 pc set. I have never been so disappointed in cookware in my life. Everything sticks… I’ve tried everything from olive oil to cooking on VERY LOW heat. It all come out the same. Worst $200 we have ever spent.

  2. Fernando Adrian Sirio says:

Hello, totally deceptive product. The way they show the product being used and their claims that they are non sticky without oil, etc!
As soon as we started using the product, food got stuck on the pans, and if we don’t add oil they will burn the pans! Horrible!.

Also, today a couple of months after purchasing a few sets of these pans and other cooking elements, ONE OF THEM EXPLODED ON ME!!!! I was cooking some eggs and I heard 2 loud noises like gun shots!
Upon inspecting the pan, I discovered the one of the rivets has totally detached and shot from the pan handle and the other one opened up ready to be discharged! These things are dangerous!

It’s been 8 months. Our pan started sticking a couple months after purchase! I’ve been dealing with it. Now, it’s terrible. Scrambled eggs, on low heat, with olive oil. It’s been soaking for hours. Still have to scrub it off!!

  4. Ronald Barber says:

I also purchased 2 Gotham steel 9 inch frying pans. I have had it since November of 2020 and it has chips and scratches in it. Also everything I cook in it sticks. I have not used it in 3 months. Absolute junk

  5. STEPHEN B LEMASTER says:

We have had the same experience. Gotham Steel products are garbage, and I have spent well in excess of a couple hundred dollars on them.

  6. E Franklin says:

I bought 4 different size frying pans, the brownie pan and crisper. Even after spraying with olive oil, canola oil or margarine everything sticks – EVERYTHING! It’s so bad I stopped using the brownie pan and crisper because it takes so long to clean all the nooks and crannies even after soaking. I cook a lot so the idea of pans that were a breeze to clean hooked me immediately. The small frying pan worked for awhile but now all the pieces take longer to clean than my original no stick pans which I’ve gone back to using because they take less time to clean than the Gotham pans!

    Same exact experience!

  8. Nancy Oakes says:

My daughter bought the whole set for me including the bakeware. All of the frying pans are now sticking really bad!!These were not cheap!

  9. T. Frederickson says:

I agree with all the comments. they are worth less than worthless, if that was possible. the warrenty is trash as the postage to send it back is more than what I originaly paid. The ads show a grill steak and to sear one you have to have high heat. you can’t do that with the pan. I just threw mine away today.

  10. Will says:

Yup was excited to buy one been watching on tv for a long time ,since the first time I used it everything sticks. I was so bummed out I still have it as a last resort. Worthless
