gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. Sabrina Jeter-Jones says:

The bought one for me and for my sister. It sticks. If I use any kind of butter or oil, it leaves a sticky residue on the pan. There is no way to win with this one

  2. Reza A says:

    Worst decision made
Read the reviews, even the ones warning about the potential risk of sticking. Assuming those people were using them incorrectly somehow…but I have several of these and they all stick, stain, etc

  3. Tom Tibbett says:

I bought one of the small egg pans and loved it for making egg sandwiches for a couple months until it started to stick in small areas. Then it started sticking more and more until I total mutilated my last eggs! Now I’m ready to throw it in the trash and try the other type Granitestone.

    1. marsha says:

Don’t bother with Granite stone either. I had the same problem with them along with warping and ALL other nonstick pans I tried. Bottom line… there is no such thing as non stick pans that last

  4. Michael H Friedman says:

After about 15 uses everything put in the Gotham steel fry pan stuck to it. It also was very difficult to clean.

  5. Roxan DeMeza says:

So disappointed…pans are NOT non-stick…in fact they stain where food sticks. What a water of money… definitely false advertising.

    1. Roxan DeMeza says:

AND…they conveniently don’t have an email address where you can let them know.

  6. Shahid sarwar says:

Bought two frying pans from walmart and they worked fine for maybe five or six uses and after that they have started sticking .Very dissapointed .There should be some action taken against this false advertising .

  7. Matt D. says:

They are terrible. Food sticks even when using butter, oil, and Pam spray. I’m having to scrape the food off using a stovetop cleaning tool meant for ceramic stove tops.

  8. Arlene Pisel says:

Hello. Completely frustrated as well. I adored the pasta pot & was on my 2nd one as the first one I accidentally dropped and created a dent on the one side bottom. The pot as with the other products were “non-stick” few uses then noticed food sticking & noticed scratches in the surfaces that the commercial claim safe for metal utensils I thought. I received a set Christmas 2018 using the pasta pot sold separately more & couple of the fry pans. The fry pans definitely lost their “non-stick” after couple times trying to make simple eggs. I even hand wash my pieces as I do my other non-Gotham cookware. I thought it was just my pieces & getting duped by another as seen on TV product. Please make this false claim publicly known. I happen to stumble across this looking for answers to what I may have done wrong. I feel better but at the same time stupid for trusting the Gotham claims.

  9. Thomas says:

These pans are absolute garbage. Worked as advertised for the first couple months and then stuff gradually starts stickto them. After months I have to scrape the sh*t out of them to get them clean. Especially the center of the pan. Bought a cast iron for less money and it has a way better non stick surface that will only improve over time instead of degrade horribly over a short period of time like Gotham Steel does.

  10. Christina Johnston says:

I bought 2 pans. Both had to be thrown away after a few months. I mainly used for eggs. they keep sticking, oil helped but after a little over a month, even with oil they would stick and over easy eggs were scrambled. every time I went to flip them, part of the egg would stick and tear the eggs so the yolks broke. Pointless pan. I loved it for the first few weeks, when it actually worked.
