gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

  1. Kent Furgason says:

I bought 2 pans. They are both all scratched up and everything sticks to them. I hate using them. What a waste.

  2. Faith Midiri says:

I bought 3 of these so called non stick pans. The first time I used the pan my French Toast stuck to it so bad I couldn’t get the food off the pan so I threw it away. Second one I bought also had the problem with food sticking to it and I even used oil because of my last experience with these pans.I threw that one away too. Lastly,my 3rd pan I had to throw away because (you know) everything stuck to it). I guess you know I won’t be buying anymore of those pans. What a joke!!! besides who can afford to keep throwing away money, because that’s what I’m doing every time I throw one of those ” non stick pans” I wanted to contact the company who makes these goofy pans, but I couldn’t find out who to contact,so here I am telling you my story/complaint. I just hope this class action suit doesn’t take forever :) Thanks, Faith.

  3. Deborah says:

I got some when I moved into my new place. Specifically chose them because the said non-stick. I’d seen advertising, and wanted pans to last me many years. It’s been 3 months and everything sticks to them. Even buttered toast when I tried to make grilled cheese.
I kept my care instructions from the box. Those guys are right, they claim these pans can be used without butter or oil in the first sentence. In very unhappy with this purchase.

  4. Jonathan Brush says:

I bought two of the small pans from Gotham Steel website. They stick to everything I cook. Terribly disappointed.

  5. A. Tedla says:

I purchased it from their website as well. I was wondering how are they allowed to advertise this garbage as non stick. It’s the furthest thing from NON-STICK. Forget meat it sticks eggs WITH oil and unlike other pans I was unable to clean it. I tried scraping, soaking in degreaser for a day… only about half way cleaned so i had to throw it away. I’m not interested in getting my money back, they should be stopped.

  6. Debra Russell says:

I purchased the 10” fry pan and the first few times it seemed ok then it started to stick. Eggs would stick, grilled cheese, hamburgers too.
The pan was difficult to clean as well. I had to soak it for days. I didn’t use any abrasive cleaners or pads. I used my fingernails! Not happy as the pan was not cheap! I pause over $40 for this pan.

    I have pictures to show.

  7. Christine says:

Even with using cooking oils, the pans stick. Bacon sticks to it. They stick WAY more than my nit nonstick frying pans. Huge waste of mo way!!!! Dollar store pans last longer.

  8. James says:

Bad pans mine started sticking to eggs after the first month. That mom stick warranty was the reason I purchased the pan . Now even with oil or butter I get stuck eggs and a pan o need to soak and work hard to remove stuck food. They are not a non stick pan at all.

  9. John Wetzel says:

Pans are not as advertised products are designed to fail, materials have come off they are garbage

  10. Nelson says:

we have the 6 peice set,the 5qt.pot has black marks on the bottom, and we hardly us it.two of the fry pans stick to anything we cook.have had for around two years, but this started happening about 1 1/2 years ago.I thought the warranty was life time>the pans are not what they claim.Very disappointed.
