gotham steel non-stick panA class action lawsuit claims that E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s Gotham Steel cooking pans are not non-stick, despite advertising to the contrary.

Carl Mack and Alec Gable say they each purchased pans made by the company specifically because they saw advertisements that the pans were non-stick.

Mack claims he relied on the packaging of the product and the TV advertisements to make his purchase, which both marketed the product as non-stick.

Allegedly, the commercials for the pan advertised that no butter or oil was required.

Mack says that he used the pans without oil or butter, consistent with advertisements for the product. However, food allegedly began sticking “severely” to the pan within a month of Mack’s purchase of it and he stopped using the pan.

Gable says he purchased two pans from the Gotham Steel website in 2018. Allegedly, he decided to purchase the pans because, like Mack, he saw advertisements showing that they were non-stick.

Gable claims that after two uses, he began cooking with butter and oil, but even the use of butter and oil did not prevent the food from sticking. Allegedly, the pans were “often caked with black burn marks” and Gable got rid of the pans after about a month of use.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pans class action lawsuit says that Gable and Mack’s experiences are common to many customers even though they used the pans as directed.

The Gotham Steel non-stick pan false advertising class action lawsuit says that E. Mishan & Sons Inc. knew or should have known that the pans were not non-stick as claimed, citing numbers customer complaints about the issue.

Allegedly, E. Mishan & Sons Inc. violated the New York General Business Law, which prohibits “deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any business, trade, or commerce or in the furnishing of any service” in the state, and also prohibits false advertising.
The customers say that they were financially injured by E. Mishan & Sons Inc.’s misrepresentations of the Gotham Steel pans because had they been aware that the pans were not actually non-stick, they would not have purchased the pans or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

The non-stick pan class action lawsuit aims to hold the company liable for breach of express warranty, among other claims.

i have found many Gotham Steel pans thrown out into the garbage all with burn marks and deep scratches, such a shame the tv network allows hyp·o·crite

  2. Ronda Theroff says:

I went all-in on the pans. I was completely convinced. I threw out my old T-gal and bought the extended pots & pans package with the fry basket.
I could send you pictures of the scratches & burned areas in the main skillet – completely unusable. The only way you can clean anything burnt is if you do it while the pan is still hot, otherwise it sets like cement. Hours of soaking & cleaning, then trying to re-season the pan did little to help. The little pots are all that’s usable now, and only for things like soups.

We bought pots and pans. They are all getting scratched up inside and we are not using metal utensils. They are not non-stick, we have to use butter or oil and it can still stick. We bought them because they said non-stick and wouldn’t scratch. Waste of money.

  4. Kathy says:

I used my pan without butter oil as directed. Everything stuck and now even with butter or oil everything sticks. My husband is super irritated that I bought these and I’m throwing them in the trash! What a waste of money!

I bought 2 Gotham Steel pans a few weeks ago. They both don’t work as advertised. Food sticks severely to both of them, with or without oil. This happened the very first time I used them. I became frustrated after trying a few times and gave up. I don’t use them anymore. Instead, I use the traditional non stick pans and they work a million times better than the Gotham pans. What a rip off. They should not get away with this.

  5. Ron S says:

I too bought a Gotham Steel pan. Just about everything sticks to this pan. I have a 100 year old cast iron pan that actually seem to be better than the Gotham pan.
So much for advanced technology . Fortunately my cat eats his food from the pan now.

I bought a 2-set of Gotham Steel Pro frying pans, used them exactly as recommended. They required oil/butter from the second use and even with oil, the sticking was severe.I`ve used many a “non-stick” pan from the beginnings of the Teflon era and I must say, unfortunately, this is the worst brand I ever used. And I bought them on a visit to the US and carried them back to France in my suitcase…I`m disappointed.

  7. John Emmons says:

The pan worked alright for a week or two. Since then everything sticks.

  8. James L says:

My wife bought me a nice sauté pan. Food sticks and the pan has stains that can’t be cleaned (indicating stuck food). Worthless!

  9. Matthew Lairmore says:

I always cook a little past medium and even with a lot of butter, I still have food sticking. When I first bought the pan, I tried cooking an egg and it stuck a little and started using butter, the pan has gotten worse as time has gone by, after a year I have to soak and scrub to get the pan clean. I came close to buying a whole set, glad I tried one pan first.

  10. Fred Hendricks says:

After a few uses scrambled eggs started sticking even with oil or butter. Not only does eggs stick the stick very bad.
