Update:
- The claim deadline has been extended to April 18, 2023.
All-Clad agreed to a $4 million settlement to resolve a false advertising class action lawsuit claiming that running its cookware through a dishwasher can leave the products with sharp edges, despite being advertised as “dishwasher safe.”
The settlement benefits a nationwide class of consumers who purchased All-Clad D3, D5 or LTD cookware.
All-Clad sells cookware, knives, bakeware, electronics and other kitchen accessories. Some of the brand’s cookware is advertised as “dishwasher safe.” However, according to a class action lawsuit against the company, these products are not actually safe to be run through the dishwasher.
Plaintiffs in the All-Clad class action lawsuit say their cookware was damaged when they washed the products in the dishwasher. This washing can allegedly cause the non-stick surface of the pan to peel away from the base — leaving sharp edges behind, the All-Clad lawsuit alleges.
According to the All-Clad class action lawsuit, other consumers have had similar experiences and have shared their own stories online. One review allegedly suffered cuts as a result of the sharp edges on All-Clad cookware.
Plaintiffs say that All-Clad knew or should have known that its products were not dishwasher safe and should not have advertised the cookware as such.
All-Clad hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve these allegations with a $4 million class action settlement.
Under the terms of the All-Clad false advertising settlement, class members can receive a replacement, partial refund and/or purchase credit.
Class members whose All-Clad cookware developed sharp edges after dishwashing can return their cookware and submit a claim for their choice of one of three benefits.
The first benefit option is a replacement of the damaged cookware, a replacement of this item and a $75 refund. The second benefit option includes an exchange of the damaged cookware for either a five-piece fry pan set or a 13-piece essentials cookware set. The third and final benefit option is a 50% off credit for the future purchase of All-Clad cookware, capped at $600 off a $1,200 purchase.
Class members who either did not experience sharp edges on their cookware or who disposed of their cookware can receive 35% off a future purchase, capped at $262.50 off a $750 purchase. In order to receive this benefit, class members must submit proof of purchase such as a store receipt, invoice or other documentation.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 8, 2022.
The final approval hearing for the All-Clad dishwasher-safe cookware false advertising settlement is scheduled for Jan. 26, 2023.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by April 18, 2023.
