Cantaloupe recall overview:ย 

  • Who: Eagle Produce LLC is recalling Kandy-brand whole cantaloupe.ย ย 
  • Why: The cantaloupes are potentially contaminated with salmonella and may harm consumers when ingested.ย 
  • Where: The product was distributed to retailers throughout Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Virginia.

Eagle Produce LLC is recalling 224 cases of whole cantaloupe after routine sample testing conducted by Michigan authorities showed salmonella contamination.

The cantaloupe recall announcement says the contaminated products were distributed to retailers between Aug 13, and Aug 17, 2024, and were sent to stores in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia.ย ย ย ย 

The impacted product can be identified by a red and white sticker with the brand name Kandy across the top and the UPC 4050 across the bottom. According to the cantaloupe recall announcement, the only impacted lot number is 846468. No other products or lot numbers were included in this recall.ย ย 

Customers asked to immediately dispose of recalled cantaloupes

Eagle Produce LLC says it has not received any reports of illness related to the cantaloupe recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The company urges customers not to consume the recalled cantaloupe and to dispose of itย  immediately. If individuals have further questions or concerns, they may contact the company at 1-800-627-8674. Its hours of operation are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday.

If a consumer believes they are experiencing health issues related to ingesting contaminated products, they should seek the advice of a medical professional, the recall notice says.

In October 2023, Sofia Produce LLC pulled Malichita cantaloupes off shelves in several states.ย
