Consumers who purchased a Logitech Alert System may be eligible to claim a $50 payment without proof of purchase from a $850,000 class action settlement over claims the system was defective.
The Class is made up of anyone who has purchased or received as a gift a Logitech Alert System since August 10, 2011.Â
A class action lawsuit alleged the Logitech Alert System was flawed or defective and had unreliable performance, and that customers encountered issues when trying to use the company’s warranty program, which constitute breach of warranty and violations of state consumer protection laws.
Logitech denies these allegations but has agreed to a settlement. The Court has not ruled in favor of either party in this case.
The tech company makes a range of electronics, from keyboards and webcams to home security systems.
Class Members who file a valid claim will be eligible for a portion of the settlement fund after attorney’ fees and other deductions have been made.
Claimants may receive $50 for the first Logitech Alert System without providing proof of purchase, as long as their email is registered with the company as an Alert System customer..
Class Members also may claim $50 for up to 10 additional Logitech Alert systems with proof of purchase, making the maximum possible settlement payment $250.
These amounts are estimated and may be adjusted up or down depending on the number of claims filed.
A final fairness hearing in the Logitech Alert settlement is scheduled for Sept. 21, 2021.
The deadline to file a claim in, opt out of, or comment on the settlement is Aug. 13, 2021.
