A woman uses a vape pen.Florida student Chance A. recently shared images of his collapsed lung on social media to warn others about Juuling health risks.

Youths Suffer Extreme Juuling Health Risks

Eighteen-year-old Chance claims that he never smoked cigarettes before he began to vape Juul e-cigarettes a year and a half ago.

The teen shared his story with The New York Post earlier this summer. According to Chance, he was rushed to the emergency room in early August after one of his lungs collapsed due to toxic chemicals in his Juul pods.

The teen claims that he was laughing with a friend when it felt like his chest was collapsing or he was having a heart attack. Despite not having any symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath prior to the incident, he was diagnosed with a collapsed lung at the hospital, and a tube was inserted into his lung to keep it inflated.

According to Chance, the surgeon who reinflated his lungs told him that whatever he had been smoking had left black dots all over his lungs. Although the hole that caused his lung to collapse was repaired, these black dots will take years to heal, and may never completely go away.

Chance also claims that he isn’t able to participate in physical activities the way he used to, due to the damage caused by his vaping habit. In a post on social media, he shared a picture of his damaged lungs with a caption urging others to be aware of Juuling health risks.

Research Into Juuling Health Risks

Studies about the dangers of Juuling have indicated that although many people believe these devices are healthier than smoking traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vape pens may be just as, if not more, dangerous.

Some research has indicated that many popular vape products and e-cigarettes may be contaminated with bacterial and fungal toxins. These toxins may be extremely hazardous when inhaled. As many vape pods are not federally regulated, these devices may contain unknown toxins and added chemical ingredients.

According to one doctor who spoke to The New York Post, lung injuries due to vaping are becoming an epidemic. Patients with collapsed lungs, abnormal chest X-rays, acute respiratory failure, and acute respiratory distress syndrome are coming into hospitals at growing rates.

There is also some evidence that vaping may increase the risk of having seizures. Seizures are a known side effect of nicotine poisoning. As Juuls and other vape pens are very easy on the lungs, it may be easy for some people to accidentally inhale excessive amounts of nicotine without realizing it.

Other Juuling health risks and e-cigarette side effects may include an increased risk of stroke, heart attack, coronary artery disease, and inflammation due to pollutants, metal particles, and added chemicals in the vape juice pods.

Victims who have suffered from Juuling health risks including lung problems or heart problems due to their vaping habit may be able to hire a qualified attorney and pursue legal action against the manufacturers of e-cigarettes and vapes. Victims may be able to collect compensation for damages including medical expenses, injuries, pain and suffering, and other costs.
