Ground coffee in a spoon on top of coffee beans - maxwell house settlement - clover valley - dollar general

UPDATE:

  • Top Class Actions viewers reported this settlement paying out up to $3.40 as of Oct. 21, 2021.
  • Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got paid!

Consumers who purchased certain Clover Valley ground coffee products from Dollar General may be eligible to make a claim in a $3.1 million class action settlement.

Anyone who purchased any Clover Valley ground coffee products from Dollar General in the United States between Jan. 1, 2015, and April 1, 2021, is considered a Class Member.

All sizes of the following products are covered by the settlement:

  • Clover Valley Donut Shop Blend Ground Coffee
  • Clover Valley Country Sunrise Dark Roast Ground Coffee
  • Clover Valley Country Sunrise Blend Ground Coffee
  • Clover Valley Classic Roast Ground Coffee
  • Clover Valley Decaffeinated Ground Coffee

Without providing proof of purchase, Class Members are eligible to claim up to $3.40.

Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit had alleged Dollar General improperly labeled, marketed, and sold the Clover Valley ground coffee products because there was not enough in the product containers to make the stated number of cups when following the brewing instructions.

Dollar General has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

In order to file a claim online, Class Members must register for a claim ID on the settlement website.

Class Members may make individual claims with or without proof of purchase.

Consumers who file a claim without proof of purchase may claim up to $0.85 per product, up to a maximum of four products, for a total maximum award of $3.40.

Those who are able to provide proof of purchase may claim $0.85 per product up to a maximum of 20 products, for a potential maximum award of $17 per household.

Only one claim may be submitted per household, regardless of whether the claim includes proof of purchase.

The final amounts to be paid may be reduced, depending on the number of valid claims filed.

In addition to the monetary relief, Dollar General has agreed to work with the coffee manufacturer to change its labeling practices by removing or revising the allegedly misleading information about the number of cups of coffee that can be made with the products.

A final approval hearing in the Clover Valley ground coffee settlement is set for July 1, 2021.

The deadline to ask to be excluded from or to object to the settlement is June 29, 2021.

The claim deadline is July 6, 2021.
