Sky Zone employees could benefit from a $1.05 million settlement if the company collected their biometrics while they worked at the trampoline park.
The settlement benefits individuals who scanned one or more fingers into a Sky Zone computer system between April 29, 2014, and April 23, 2024.
Group 1 class members include individuals identified by Sky Zoneโs records or other information, while Group 2 class members include individuals who scanned their biometrics at any Sky Zone Trampoline Park locations in Elmhurst, Aurora or Joliet, Illinois.
According to employees in the class action lawsuit, Sky Zone failed to properly get their consent before collecting their fingerprints through time keeping systems. Plaintiffs in the case argue that this violated Illinoisโ Biometric Information Privacy Act.
Sky Zone is an indoor trampoline park with locations around the country, including Illinois.
Sky Zone hasnโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $1.05 million to resolve the BIPA class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Sky Zone settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of valid claims filed, but each class member is estimated to receive $350-$650.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 15, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2024.
Group 1 class members do not need to file a claim to receive a settlement payment. Group 2 class members must submit a valid claim form by July 29, 2024.
