The New York attorney general’s office secured a $480,000 settlement with 10 Domino’s franchises in the state, resolving wage and hour violations.
The settlement benefits individuals who were employed at a New York Domino’s Pizza franchise owned by Anthony Maestri, Shueb Ahmed or Matthew Denman between 2008 and 2013.
According to the New York Attorney General Letitia James, three Domino’s Pizza franchises violated state labor laws by miscalculating wages. This miscalculation through Domino’s PULSE payroll system allegedly denied workers the minimum wages and overtime wages they were owed.
Domino’s follows a franchise model when expanding its business. Through this model, individuals own various franchises and hire employees with support from the corporate Domino’s structure.
In March 2017, the Office of the Attorney General reached three settlements totaling $480,000 with Anthony Maestri, Shueb Ahmed and Matthew Denman. Maestri agreed to pay $240,000, Denman agreed to pay $90,000 and Ahmed agreed to pay $150,000. These settlements brought the total recovery in the case to nearly $2 million in total restitution to be split amongst several groups.
Consumers who worked for these franchisees can file a claim with the settlement to receive compensation. Payments will vary depending on the amount of time worked for each franchisee. Payment estimates are not available at this time.
In order to receive a Domino’s settlement payment, workers must submit a valid claim form by Jan. 19, 2023.
