Update:
- The deadline to file a claim has been updated to Oct. 31, 2023.
Nissan has reached a class action lawsuit settlement with Missouri customers who claimed certain Altima and Maxima have a defective front floor pan that rusts prematurely and causes damage to the vehicles.
Class members include those consumers who have a 2002 through 2006 Nissan Altima or a 2004 through 2008 Nissan Maxima currently registered in Missouri or registered in Missouri at the time they conducted repairs related to an allegedly defective floor pan.
A vehicle’s floor pan provides rigidity, serves as a barrier and is the base for the vehicle’s seats.
Nissan has not admitted any wrongdoing related to the Altima and Maxima floor pan class action lawsuit but has agreed to settle the claims in the interest of avoiding the costs and risks of continuing litigation.
Class members are eligible for benefits related to their class vehicles.
Class members who take their class vehicles to an authorized Nissan dealership within one year of the effective date of the settlement are eligible to receive an inspection of their vehicle.
Those class members who take their vehicles in for repair and their floor pans are found to be defective are eligible to receive a free repair and a rental car to use for up to five days if necessary.
Class members who have already paid to repair front floor pan corrosion present in their Altima or Maxima class vehicle are eligible to receive reimbursement for repair costs.
If the repairs were conducted at a Nissan dealership, class members can receive reimbursement for 100% of out-of-pocket expenses.
If the repairs were not conducted at a Nissan dealership, class members can receive reimbursement for 100% of out-of-pocket expenses up to $5,000.
The deadline to opt out of the Nissan Altima and Maxima settlement, submit a dispute or file an objection to the settlement is Sept. 6, 2022.
Class members are invited to attend a final fairness hearing in the settlement, scheduled for Sept. 29, 2022.

Had same problem with my Altima 2006 paid 1000.00 to get it fixed but live in Minnesota. Why does it only cover Missouri when Nissan sells their cars in all states or did Missouri supposedly only state that got the defective ones. My Altima was bought brand new and was the worse car I have ever owned!
Have something in mail today from them. Denial?
Curious george ,
was it a check??
was your car registered in Missouri at the time of the repair?
I have a 2006 Altima, Vin 1NB4AL11D06C214423 and received your notice. I have never had floor pan replacd. Am I to take my car to a Nissan dealer to have it inspected at no charge?
