Harcourt Group LLC and Sojourn Properties Inc. have agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging they required certain occupants of the Harcourt Hotel in San Francisco to move out prior to obtaining tenant rights.
If you lived or stayed at the Harcourt Hotel since May 23, 2010, you may qualify for payment from the Harcourt Hotel class action settlement.
The Harcourt Hotel is located at 1100 Sutter Street/1105 Larkin Street in San Francisco, Calif.
Plaintiffs Eric Boice, Vinetta Boice, Jennifer Hawkins and Yowie Stromberg are serving as Class representatives. They filed the Harcourt Hotel class action lawsuit seeking to recover damages over allegations the defendants improperly required certain tenants to move out of the Harcourt Hotel before they obtained tenant rights.
The plaintiffs accused the defendants of violations of the Health and Safety Code and the San Francisco Rent Ordinance. According to the Harcourt Hotel class action lawsuit, the defendants required certain occupants of the hotel to move rooms or check out and reregister to prevent them from obtaining tenant rights.
The defendants also failed to pay relocation fees when occupants were forced to change rooms, the Harcourt Hotel class action lawsuit alleges.
The defendants have agreed to pay $300,000 to settle the Harcourt Hotel class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation.
The Harcourt Hotel housing class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Sept. 8, 2017.
Class Members who would like to object to the Harcourt Hotel settlement must do so no later than Nov. 14, 2017.
