Google agreed to a $630 million settlement to resolve claims from all 50 states that it violated antitrust laws by monopolizing app distribution and in-app billing services through its Google Play Store.
The Google Play Store class action settlement benefits consumers who made a qualifying purchase through the Google Play Store or paid for in-app content through Google Play Billing between Aug. 16, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2023.
According to the attorneys general from all 50 states, Google violated antitrust laws by monopolizing app distribution and in-app billing services through its Google Play Store. As a result of this alleged scheme, consumers were forced to pay too much for apps and in-app purchases, the states contend.
Google Play is the app store for Android devices. The platform allows users to download apps, games, music, movies and more.
Google has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $630 million to resolve the antitrust claims from the states.
Under the terms of the Google Play Store class action settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount they paid for apps and in-app purchases during the class period.
Class members are guaranteed to receive at least $2. Payments may be higher depending on the number of apps purchased and the amount paid for in-app purchases. Exact payment amounts will vary.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Feb. 19, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Google settlement is scheduled for April 30, 2026.
No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive a settlement payment.
Class members who wish to update their contact information or be notified when the supplemental claims process begins can submit their information on the settlement website.
Who’s Eligible
Consumers who made a qualifying purchase through the Google Play Store or Google Play Billing between Aug. 16, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2023, while living in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.

I have had a google account for over 20 years. Google One, and Google Play were charging me to the point where I had to block auto payments and replace my card numbers so they would stop charging me.
