If their information was compromised in the 2022 data breach, consumers could receive payments and other benefits from a $6.49 million CorrectCare settlement.

The settlement benefits individuals who were identified by CorrectCare as being potentially compromised by the CorrectCare data breach discovered in July 2022 and announced in November 2022.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim that CorrectCare failed to protect their information from hackers who were able to gain access to sensitive information in a 2022 data breach. This breach allegedly compromised data acquired by CorrectCare during medical claims processing.

CorrectCare Integrated Health is a medical billing, claims administration and medical services provider that specializes in correctional facility healthcare.

CorrectCare hasnโ€™t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $6.49 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the CorrectCare settlement, consumers can receive up to $10,000 for documented data breach-related losses. This reimbursement covers bank fees, communication charges, travel expenses, professional fees, credit expenses and damages from fraud that occurred between the date of the data breach and Aug. 27, 2024.

Class members who do not have documented expenses or do not wish to file a claim for reimbursement may instead receive an alternate cash payment. These payments will vary depending on the number of valid claims filed.

All class members from California can receive an additional cash payment equal to half of the alternative cash payment amount. This is regardless of whether they claim expense reimbursement or the alternate cash payment options.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 30, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Sept. 16, 2024.

In order to receive CorrectCare settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 16, 2024.
